Brooklyn Acting Studio, Brooklyn, New York
Set in the Industry City complex of converted industrial lofts on the Brooklyn waterfront, this acting studio is one of the country’s premier schools of the Meisner technique. Completed in four months from first concept to opening, the studio was constructed on a modest budget of $50/square foot, and uses a limited number of design moves to make architecture from everyday elements. The spaces are subdivided with large rolling doors painted to match the industrial vernacular of red sprinkler pipes. The studios were designed with acoustical partitions and sound attenuating elements, allowing various dramas to unfold simultaneously.
